This study aims to find out how the living conditions of widows in improving the family economy in Muara Pinang District, Empat Lawang Regency, South Sumatra and managing the lives of widows in their families, as well as the challenges and obstacles. The type of research used is qualitative research with social welfare and sociological approaches. There are two sources of data in this study, namely primary data sources and secondary data sources, primary data sources covering the purpose of information, including farmers in Muara Pinang District. The results of this study indicate that the lives of widows in improving the family economy in the Muara Pinang sub-district are based on three conditions, namely the condition of being left behind by her husband who chooses to try and work independently in order to make a living and the future of her children, the condition that her husband left divorced. namely all the efforts and hard work of the work produced by the widows without the intervention of the ex-husband. As for those who are left by their husbands for no reason, it begins with a worrying condition, especially if the widow already has children. The management of the widow's life in her family is by establishing a business as a main and side worker, and income from children who are already working. The challenges for widows include the division of time as housewives, and as heads of families, as well as increasing business competition. While the obstacles are all real forms. These constraints include a lack of human resources and a lack of job opportunities. The author hopes that this researcher can provide an understanding to the reader, especially about widows in improving the family economy in the Muara Pinang sub-district, Empat Lawang Regency, the author also hopes that this research can be useful as a reference for future readers.
