Pasar modal menjadi tempat di mana perusahaan/korporasi (deficit units) bisa mendapatkan tambahan modal secara langsung dari para investor (surplus units). Sehingga bentuk transaksi antara korporasi dan pasar modal yaitu investasi langsung (direct investment).
